The term most accept comes from a 1972 dramatisation The Stone Tape, it follows a story about a group of scientists who theorise that a room’s fabric can store visual and auditory impressions of ghosts that is able to replay inside sensitive people’s heads. In paranormal terms some class it as a type of ghost that may haunt somewhere, whilst others see the correct meaning that it is the explanation for the phenomena of a residual haunting. Meaning that in the same place at the same time, the same ghost acts out the same scene. It is a continual ongoing debate whether it really exists or not with many different reasons for why people think it should be scientific or paranormal, or bordering both.
