The lighthouse was built in 1891 and was originally called Eagles Nest Point. The name was changed in 1913, it is also known as The White Lady. The light source used to be kerosene, when the lighthouse was taken over by the Commonwealth Goverment in 1919 it was automated and converted to acetylene. In 1972 it was converted again to electricity.
The 2 keepers cottages were sold by auction in 2004, the event was attended by many, it is unknown how much the cottages went for, but it is thought to be over AU$1.5 million.

IT is said that the lighhouse as a few ghosts wandering around, but how many and what types of ghost varies.
