The well as been around for many thousands of years and would of been used as a water source for the first settlers there who were Indian farming cultures. And it remains a special and sacred place to many others who roots were established there. The well was established in 1906 as a national momument and was brought in 1947 by the National Park Service who as maintained its up keep.
