The cemetery was established in 1851, though some graves do date from the 1820’s. It has many well preserved tombstones and rare iron markers. It also as a ‘receiving vault ‘, where bodies would be kept until it was time for them to be buried. This was built in 1866 and is still in use today.

People have reported seeing orbs and other strange lights at the cemetery, but the most haunted part is said to be the Abbots tomb, which as the body of the husband and wife inside. For unknown reasons the tomb seems to be secluded from others with the entrance facing a different way. It is said that if you disturb the tomb the Abbots will be chase you away.
