The manor is listed in The Doomsday Book with the ownewr being William Fitz Ansculf The Baron of Dudley. The Manor House as had many different owners over the years some are William Fitz de Offini in 1173 he founded Sandwell Priory in 1180. In 1713 it was brought by Sir Samuel Clarke and James Smith the Earl of Dartsmouths purchased it in 1823. When James died in 1829 it was passed on to his trustees . In 1836 it was converted into flats with different families living there until the 1880's. This conversion totally concealed the manor and it was not rediscovered until the 1950's when it was due to be demolished. The manor as since been restored and the moat which was believed to have been filled in around the 1700's was dug out.
