The tavern is the oldest building in Nanchez and possibly Mississippi, and was built sometime in the late 1700s. The first known owner was Richardo King. As well as being a tavern it was also a inn and was the towns first post office. In the 1930s much needed repairs were carried out, it was at this time that 3 skeletons were found behind the fireplace, a jeweled dagger was also found. It is not sure who the skeletons were but they were 2 males and a female, the female is thought to be that of Madeline who was the young mistress of Richardo.

The tavern is believed to be haunted with many strange things occuring, some things that have been reported are the sound of a baby crying, things being knocked off shelfs, water appearing on the floor, lights switching off and on, tables vibrating, a male figure as been seen and footsteps have been heard.
