The American Legion was completed in 1929. The building is a Los Angeles Registered Historical Landmark. The hall has always been an American legion post.It was a favourite haunt of local artists, film stars and politicians, including presidents. Partially due to the insistence of Al Jolson The Legion fight stadium was built. Humphrey Bogart was a regular in the basement bar. Many films and television commercials have been filmed in the building. A bronze plaque in the memorial shrine, shows the names of members who have died, one of the names included is Clark Gable.
