The theatre was built in 1946 and was named after its builder Holly Brannon and could seat up to 500 people and was richly decorated. It closed its door in early 1970’s due to a decline for its need. During the Gold Rush from mid 1970s till the 1980, after years of standing empty the theatre was patched up and reopened. In the 1990s Dahlonega community set up a permanent restoration programme to enable the building to serve as a community centre. Today it continues to be a place for different sources of entertainment. The theatre is thought to have many ghosts many being spotted in the seats or standing between them when it should be empty. Also lights go off and on and many strange noises are heard.
