One couple to live there were Thomas and Ellen Vaughn he was the typical archetype wicked squire and was known as the black Vaughn. In the 15th century Ellen is said to have purposefully killed her brothers murderer at an archery contest, and Thomas himself was killed at the Battle of Banbury since then and up to the present day a black bloodhound is said to haunt the house and grounds, and some people still refuse to pass the house after darkness falls.
