A curse is a spell which is put upon an object or person and will bring misfortune or even death. The reason something or someone may be cursed is to either protect or for revenge. Curses may have effect immediately, continue to run for many years, or have periods where they remain dormant.

There is belief in curses in many religions and cultures.Some different kinds of curses and the terms they are known by are: a jinx, evil eye and hex.

Some types of things a curse may be cast from are effigy, a wax, clay or wooden figure that resembles its victim, this is then either burned or pins or needles stuck into them, as the effigy is harmed so is the victim.

Also cursing stones these are stroked and continualy turned to the left as the curse is recited.
