Culzean Castle Scotland

Between 1777 - 1792 Robert Adam converted an old fortified castle which stood on a cliff top overlooking the Firth of Clyde from as early as 1165 into what we see today, for the 10th Earl of Cassillis, David Kennedy. The most well known features of the castle are the circular saloon and the staircase. The Kennedy Clan as been associated with the area since the 12th century.

In 1945 the 5th Marquess gave the castle and estate to the National Trust of Scotland. It is now open to the public and contains item from the 18th century, it is surrounded by 563 acres of parkland.

The castle has many ghosts some are a knight which is thought to be Sir John Cathcart, a women dressed in a ball gown who is seen in the grounds, a peculiar misty shapes which moves about on the staircase and a small ghost by the dungeons.
