The mansion was built in the 1890’s by Aaron Flint Churchill a wealthy business man in Georgia; he could not resist having a holiday home for his family in his home town of Nova Scotia overlooking Darling Lake. Most of the time the family would spend just 6 weeks a year there.  They did this until 1920. After that the house was left unoccupied for nearly 40 years.  An American couple then brought the mansion as well as the caretaker’s property.  The mansion was then brought by Mr and Mrs Benson who at first turned it into a bed and breakfast before changing to a country inn.
