This is a medieval castle and fortress with dungeons and torture chambers.
Since the twelve hundreds to the present day the castle as been a home to members and relations of the Grey family.
The castle has been through many sieges and played host to kings including Henry III in 1255 and Edward I in 1298.
There are many ghost who haunt the castle some of them are Lady Mary Berkeley she lived in the castle by herself with only her baby girl for company, she is said to be searching for her husband who ran off with her sister.
Voices in the library are heard but if you stop what you are doing to listen, the voices stop, and there is said to be a pail while figure looking for water in the pantry.
