The Black Forest Area is located directly east of the Air Force Academy which is Colorado Springs, Colorado. It has experienced an increase of unexplained phenomena in the past few years, beginning in 1992. A couple by the name of Steven and Beth Lee, purchased a home there and occurrences began to happen just weeks after moving in. The occurrences included lights flashing, footsteps stomping across the roof, as well as chains rattling. The family was awakened one night to orchestra music. The children complained of strange shadows and lights in their rooms. There were also incidences of unexplained chemical odors that would burn the occupants’ eyes and throats.

There were a total of 62 unexplained break-ins at the residence over the next four years. The Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation in April of 1993 and after following up 45 times; could never find a reasonable or logical explanation; nor could they find any crime committed there. The Lees also hired private investigators in order to try to find an explanation for what was happening in their home. Mr. Lee had taken numerous photographs of the areas and upon examining them found unexplained light streaks in them, as well as translucent faces appearing on the films. It didn’t matter what type of camera was used, or film, the same types of light phenomena would appear as well as outlines of humans and animals. Floating balls of light were also captured on film.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee continued to try to find explanations for all of the occurrences happening within their home. They continued the television Sightings and sent them pictures and a videotape of the phenomena. Sightings contacted them after having a respected Video Technician examine the various pictures and videotape. The Technician could find no evidence of tampering, of special effects being added. Sightings then sent a crew to the site and also brought along Minneapolis "ghostbuster" Echo Bodine as well as Los Angeles psychic Peter James. Both men confirmed that there were strong evidence of paranormal influences in the house. A Hopi shaman was contacted and he said that the site was a "Rainbow Vortex" which meant that it was a corridor for the "other side" and our side to connect. This Vortex is said to be one of very few spots on the planet that exists. There are different colored lightforms that can be seen and recorded there; as well as apparitions of a little girl, an old lady and a large man dressed in 1800’s clothing. A "flying dog" has also been reported. In the Lee’s mirrors there are reports of hundreds of sad looking faces that have been seen floating in the mirrors.

There have been others that have investigated this property, including Colorado State Senator Charles Duke who have confirmed paranormal activity. There is an FBI agent who believes that this is the work of poltergeist activity as well.

There are to date over 3,000 photographs and 400 videotapes that appear to support these claims.
