The house is located in the inner city area of Birmingham, between 1618 and 1635 it was built by the local squire Thomas Holte and is of Jacobean style. The Holte family was a supporter of the Royalist troops and due to this it suffered some damage during the Civil War, some of this damage is still evident today.

Aston Hall BirminghamIn 1817 it was leased to the eldest son of James Watt and following his death in 1848 the property was sold to The Corporation Of Birmingham and has since been renovated and internally even though most original furniture is not there any more, it has been replaced by some which would have been similar to the time.

There are many ghosts at Aston Hall, some being a grey ghost who is Holtes Daughter, it is said he kept her locked in a room for 16 years after she tried to elope, she eventually went insane and died, a housekeeper who worked there in 1645 is seen wearing a green dress and Dick who was a houseboy who was accused of stealing and as a result of this hung himself.
